Employee Complaint Process
UC Riverside is committed to promoting and maintaining a work environment where all persons who are part of the campus community are treated with respect and can work and learn together in an atmosphere free from all forms of discrimination, harassment, unfair treatment, or intimidation.
The University strongly encourages the informal resolution process as the first step to address workplace issues and concerns. However, if informal resolution is not attempted or is unsuccessful, the University has the following complaint resolution processes in place.

The local procedure provides additional information and procedural steps that are not included in the corresponding systemwide policy. |

Grievance Process for Non-Senate Non- Represented Academic Employees |
This systemwide policy provides non-Senate academic appointees the opportunity to present grievances. The use of this policy shall not be discouraged by the University either directly or indirectly. This local policy provides non-Senate academic appointees the opportunity to present grievances. |

Grievance Process For Union-Represented Employees |

Sexual Violence/Sexual Harassment Complaints |

Discrimination, Harassment or Retaliation Complaint |
A concern related to negative treatment based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, religion, or any other characteristic protected by state or federal law, as defined in the UC Discrimination, Harassment, and Affirmative Action in the Workplace policy. This policy and the campus implementing policy also are used for complaints of retaliation: adverse action taken because someone reported discrimination or engaged in other protected activity. |

Whistleblower Complaints |
A concern related to improper governmental activities or other unethical conduct, as defined by the UC Whistleblower policy. Office of the Ombuds |
The Office of the Ombuds provides confidential, impartial, independent, and informal conflict resolution and problem-solving services. Ombuds services include conflict analysis, strategies to resolve and prevent disputes, identification of options and information, effective communication coaching, mediation, group facilitation, and resource referrals. Campus Advocacy, Resources and Education (CARE) |
CARE is an intervention and prevention support program committed to ending sexual violence at UCR. CARE provides direct advocacy, resources and prevention educational programs related to issues of sexual assault, relationship violence and stalking to students, staff, faculty and UCR.
